Christian Heritage of Dumbarton

Christian Heritage of Dumbarton

The children from the 7 Primary schools in Dumbarton were doing their tour of the town today.

Dumbarton Churches Together are working with local schools to promote the Christian Heritage of Dumbarton, and have obtained grant funding from the Scottish Government to encourage co-operation and inclusion, and to fight sectarianism.

To mark St Andrew’s Day over 200 P6 children from all seven Primary Schools in Dumbarton, led by a piper, visited five different town centre churches of different traditions. At each church they heard a little about the church’s history, and each school received a candle – which at the end made up a full set of Advent candles. The morning came to a fitting close with a short service in St Patricks, attended also by Jackie Baillie MSP, in which local clergy from the different churches shared together.Dumbarton Christian Heritage

Look out on 30 November for the children from local primary schools visiting the church on their Annual St Andrews Day Walk arriving at the church at approximately 10.30am.
